Sai Bat (morning alms) in Luang Prabang, Laos

Sai bat - The monks from Luang Prabang, Laos in their saffron ropes collect for centuries every morning before dawn donations from the population (and some tourists) for their daily food and for the poor of the comunity. An impressive experience for everyone to witness!
Mostly female traders with their typical double sales-baskets supply the donors with goods...
Supplies are important through the whole procedure...
...monks from Thailand are guests and line up among the donors...and tourists try to get an atmospheric picture...
...some donors also spend money...
...even the neighborhood dogs join this tradition in hopes that some sticky rice will fall their way ;-)
..at the end all monks go back to their temples for breakfast
